What is Bromelain?

This is an enzyme that is found in pineapple juice and also in the stem of the fruit. It is now being used extensively as a medicinal supplement for various reasons, the mostbromelain aurora chiropractor I important, being the reduction of inflammation.

Over the years, there have been several research studies, which have shown that several supplements that were made using Bromelain were found to be effective as anti-inflammatory solutions. It is said that the formulations were found to be, at times, more effective than over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drugs.

Some of the general uses of Bromelain

Generally, this enzyme is used to fight inflammation in most parts of the body; however, it is mainly used for the reduction of inflammation of the sinuses and nose, especially after surgery. Other conditions that can be treated using this enzyme include hay fever; ulcerative colitis, which is a bowel problem that causes swelling and ulcerating of the intestines; Debridement, which is the removal of tissues after someone has suffered from burns and other corrosive damage to the skin; reducing the effects of pulmonary edema, where water collects in the lungs and makes it hard to breathe; muscle relaxation; slowed clotting; preventing cancer, easy labor; increasing muscle contractive capacity and getting rid of fat from the body.

How does Bromelain work?

It is said that there are natural substances in the body which help it to fightbromelain aurora chiropractor swelling, which is also known as inflammation; Bromelain tends to help the body produce more of these substances than it normally would, thereby helping in accelerating the reduction of the swelling. Bromelain has also been known to have chemical substances which inhibit the growth of tumor cells, and those which slow the clotting of blood.

Bromelain and Chiropractic practice

Given that this is a natural substance that has anti-inflammatory properties, it can be used as a dietary supplement to help in the treating of inflamed tissues. When a patient comes to see the chiropractor, he can suggest that the patient take the supplement so that inflammation can be reduced. There is no real research into the reaction of Bromelain and other drugs, but this is the best way to naturally manage mild forms of inflammation.  There is still a lot of research that needs to be done on the beneficial properties of Bromelain, but the fact that it has been used traditionally, for years, means that it can still be used as research continues.

The dosage of Bromelain in supplements

Since this is a supplement and not a drug, it does not have to be approved by the FDA, and therefore there is no standardization of the amounts found in the supplements. Excess Bromelain can cause the heart to beat much faster, and people with cardiac conditions should use the supplement with caution. The companies that make the supplements may or may not include the amounts found per serving. Perhaps the best way is to take it naturally by eating pineapple stems and also take a lot of natural pineapple juice.
